CALL FOR WORKS - UNITY

 

 

Sonic Artists in Wales are proud to announce: 'UNITY - a showcase of Original Octophonic Acousmatic Sonic Art.'

 

The objective of UNITY is to encourage and celebrate the collaboration between creative institutions and sonic artists; displaying the importance of sharing ideas and research whilst establishing an open forum to discuss octophonic and acousmatic art forms.

 

We are putting out a call for works for pieces of octophonic acousmatic sonic art that reflect upon how technologies communicate and how our understanding of technology, processes and interactions can help encourage scientific advancement and develop our evolution as a species.

 

The UNITY concert is scheduled to take place on Friday March 27th 2015 at 6pm until 8pm, and will be held at the prestigious Reading Room, located in the ALEX Campus, Swansea which is part of the University of Wales Trinity and St David.

 

Interested parties should consider the following:

 

Submitted pieces must not exceed 8 minutes long.

 

The speaker configuration for the event will be as follows:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Individual tracks should be clearly labelled 1 through to 8 and correspond numerically with that of the speaker configuration displayed above.

 

If you would like to submit a piece for the consideration of our judging panel to be used in the event, or require any additional technical information please contact octophonicevents@gmail.com.  If you are submitting work, please provide a link from where our judging panel are able to download your submission (eg. Dropbox folder/Google Drive).

 

Work should be submitted in 24bit bit depth, 44.1kHz sample rate to ensure the sound quality and consistency of demonstrated works.  A short biography about the artist and work should also be included in your submission.

 

Please note that the deadline for submission of works to be considered for this event is March 4th 2015. Submissions will then be judged by a panel of six individuals on March 6th. Successful artists will be contacted on March 9th 2015.

By submitting work the artist agrees to grant the organisers of the event permission to use their submission for public demonstrations/performance, educational/research purposes and promotional material exclusively related to and within the confinements of the UNITY showcase.
